世界 Smurf 日 GLOBAL SMURFS™ DAY IN MALAYSIA
.jpg) PETALING JAYA, Selangor, June 22, 2013 – On Saturday, June 22, 2013, in celebration of the birthday of Peyo, the creator of the Smurfs (born June 25, 1928), Sony Pictures Malaysia visited three cinema locations in anticipation of the release of The Smurfs™ 2, in cinemas 8 August.
This is the second celebration of Global Smurfs Day in Malaysia. In 2011, a Smurfs invasion was staged at IPC Movie Fiesta where the Smurfs figurines were placed all over the concourse carrying Malaysian flags. This year, Sony Pictures Malaysia arranged for the Global Smurfs Day crew to visit three cinemas – GSC Mid Valley, TGV 1 Utama and Cathay Cineplex. The Smurfs character mascots made an appearance to have photos taken with fans while distributing Global Smurfs Day themed cookies and balloons. The themed cookies are a product of the studio’s collaboration with a local confectionary brand, Delectable by Su and over 1, 500 cookies were distributed within 3 hours. Besides the local on-ground activities, the studio sent Ryan from the Hitz.fm Morning Crew to attend the worldwide Smurfs Ambassadors initiative which boasts of 40 participating ambassadors from 28 countries. All the ambassadors were dressed as the evergreen characters as they were officially appointed as Smurf representatives of their countries by Peyo’s daughter, Veronique Culliford in Brussels. After the fun-filled ceremony, the group boarded a Thalys train and visit Paris, the locale of the adventures in the upcoming animation The Smurfs™ 2. In conjunction with Global Smurfs Day, it is announced by Catherine Chai, Marketing Manager of Sony Pictures Malaysia that there will be a local dub of the theatrical release of The Smurfs™ 2 in Bahasa Melayu. Commenting on this, Chai said “The Smurfs 2 is an ideal movie to dub in local language as it is an evergreen franchise with popular characters well-known worldwide. In conjunction of Hari Raya, it’s the perfect time for us to embark on a fresh angle of dubbing a well-known product of our studio into Bahasa Malaysia. With the popularity of the celebrity voice casts, we believe The Smurfs™ 2 will be able to garner great success in the cinemas.” The local dubbed version of The Smurfs™ 2 will feature voices of local celebrities such as Datuk Aznil Hj Nawawi as Gargamel, Hafizuddin Fazil as Papa Smurf, Lisa Surihani as Smurfette, Zizan Razak as Vanity, Elfira Loy as Vexy and Ray from Era FM as Grouchy. Lisa Surihani is also Sony Malaysia’s new brand ambassador for its range of cameras, with the Jom Meriah Bersama Lisa Surihani NEX-3N camera campaign running currently until 30th June. The recording sessions began end May and is still presently ongoing.
