New York City police detective John Sullivan has had an aching void in his life ever since his father, Frank, one of the city's bravest firefighter, was killed in the line of duty when John was just a young boy. John's wife still loves him but is leaving him, knowing he has his own demons to chase. Devastated, he drowns sorrows in alcohol as his life starts to fall apart, as well as the house he lives in, which used to radiate so much charm and warmth when he lived as a child. He is touched to find his father's old ham radio and finds a buddy over the radio, a seemingly older man with whom he chats about baseball, until static severs the connection. Back on the radio, John slowly realizes that the man he is talking to is not living in the present -- he can't -- he didn't know the results of the 1969 World Series. Is this some kind of joke? John is stunned to find that through a freak of nature, the man he is talking to is his father who is sitting at the same desk in the same house - only 26 years earlier! A black hole has allowed John to communicate with his father he never knew, despite the decades separating them. Desperate to prevent the accident that caused his father's death, John tells Frank about the mistake he made that cost him his life. Heading his son's warning, Frank now survives the fire, but both men soon realize that altering the past does not come without repercussions. John briefly gains his father but will lose his mother, who becomes the target of a ruthless serial killer, Carl Shepard, who was never caught. But Shepard was also a cop and is now alive in the present as a direct consequence of their actions. As the two men toy with fate, John sees his life change before his eyes -- and doesn't like what he sees. In a frantic race to catch the killer before he strikes again, John must use his vantage point in the future to guide his father through the past. In a tense and chilling climax, both men, each in their own time, come face to face with the vicious murderer who will destroy their future and the woman they love. surfers' reviews 网友评语 Kian, kota kinabalu, Malaysia[posted on 8/10/2002 11:58:35 PM] very nice movie!!! very intresting, attractive and touching! although it's something that might not happened in the real world, it makes me think of... how if this really happen, seems real. the feeling on the whole movie is real good! |
