Defying the very notion of good taste, Scary Movie outparodies the pop-culture paradies with a no-holds barred assault on the most popular images and talked-about moments from recent films, television and commercials. The film boldly fires barbs at the classic scenes from "Scream, "The Sixth Sense," "The Matrix," "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "The blair Witch Project," then goes on to mock a whole myriad of teen movie cliches, no matter the genre.

It all starts with the murder of a beautiful high school classmate, after which a group of misguided teens - all played, of course, by 20-30 years old actors - discovers there is a killer among them. Heroine Cindy Campbell and her clique of clueless friends, including Buffy, Brenda, Bobby, Greg, Shorty and Ray, must protect themselves from danger... and that pesky reporter Gail Hailstorm who just won't leave them alone! Sound familiar? It certainly is, but as the story gets under way, a series of gruesome and hilarious surprises blows the lid off then expected plot twists and turns them into something funny and twisted.

Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, Scary Movie features a talented and hilarious ensemble cast that includes Shawn Wayans ("Don't Be a Menace...," the upcoming "New Blood," author of 150 Ways to Tell If You're Ghetto), Marlon Wayans ("Don't Be a Manace," the upcoming "Requiem For a Dream," and "Dungeons and Dragons"), Shannon Elizabeth ("American Pie"), Cheri Oteri (television's "Saturday Night Live," "Inspector Gadget"), Anna Faris in her feature film debut, Jon Abrahams ("Outside Providence," the upcoming Rabgers"), Lochlyn Munro ("Dead Man on Campus," the upcoming "Duets"), Regina Hall ("The Best Man," "Love and Basketball"), and Dave Sheridan (Chicago's Second City Theater, star and creator of MTV's "Buzzkill.") A dimension Films release, Scary Movie even takes on other Dimension Film hits along with "The Scream" trilogy.
